2008
Saturday
27th December |
Hello everybody,
I hope you had a really nice Christmas and got loads of
presents. I went to see the old ladies 2 days before Christmas,
which I liked because I got to give them all a kiss. Me
and Amber had some really nice beef for Christmas day that
Boss Woman bought us and we've been eating Turkey ever since.
I got a tug pull and Amber got a chew ball thing for a Christmas
present. Boss Woman also got us a hessian rope tug toy and
she is teaching us to seek and find it, which we like. Boss
Woman has been really busy doing some work for the dog rescue.
Loads and loads of tiny puppies and dogs are now needing
new homes because the people who got them don't want them
anymore. A lot of people buy them as Christmas presents
and when they realise that us pups and dogs pee, poo and
chew everywhere they don't want us anymore. Well of course
we pee, poo and chew everywhere ~ until we are trained otherwise,
how are we supposed to know !!??? We aren't always cute
and cuddly. Sometimes we make a mess, smell and eat things
(like dead moles, rabbits or whatever) that our human owners
don't like. We also need a lot of walks, even when it's
rainy, snowy, cold and windy. Nobody said we made life easy
for our humans even if we love them. Thing is, if we are
well looked after and walked a lot, then we are very happy
and we make our humans happy as well. If we are not looked
after properly then we are sad and poorly and then no one
likes us anymore.Me
and Polly went a lovely walk yesterday with Stella Labrador.
We walked for a long way through muddy fields over Barras
and we had to have an all over wash when we got back because
we were so muddy. This is only the second Christmas that
me and Polly have had together with Boss Woman. We have
had lovely time this holiday going for some very nice long
walks with Boss Woman and Big Guy and lying in front of
the log fire at night has been really cosy.

Wednesday
18th December |
Me
and Amber were scared in the Forest today. Someone was shooting
really close to us down by the river in the Forest ~ it was
really loud as well. It was only when Boss Woman shouted to
them that they stopped shooting. There was a lot of other
people walking dogs as well and Boss Woman reckoned we were
all lucky not to have got shot. I had a playfight with Charlie
dog. He was really friendly and we played chasing and jumping
for ages. I went and stood by Boss Woman
because I didn't like the loud noises.

Monday
15th December |
Walked
on to Seal Island today to see the baby seals. There were
loads and loads of baby seals on the rocks and they weren't
half making a racket with wailing and barking. I barked at
them back just to let them know that I was there and watching
them closely. The big seals kept popping their head out of
the water to look at us. The tide was coming in really fast
and I didn't fancy jumping in the sea to swim to the Island
to have a closer look, just in case the big seals got hold
of me. Yeah, they were really big with
big giant heads. Probably had very sharp teeth as well.

Friday
12th December |
Boss
Woman almost had a heart attack this morning. There were 5
pigs that had escaped from the local pig farm, running about
outside our fence. I could easily have chased them back up
to the farm and saved the 4 men the job of getting them back
again, but Boss Woman wouldn't let me. It's started snowing
again now. We had great fun chasing
the rabbits down at Skatie Shore today. The waves on the sea
were gigantic !

Tuesday
9th December |
We
had to go out early for our walk today because I am working
as a Therapet at 11 a.m. The big blazing red sun was just
coming up over the sea when we went down the fields. The ground
was all white and really sparkly with the frost ~ it was a
bit cold on my feet as well ! It's nice going at that time
in the morning because eveything is so peaceful and still.
We saw some geese and 2 swans flying
overhead. The wings of the swans made a very strange whooshing
noise as they went past. Chicken for dinner.

Sunday
29th November |
It
was absolutely freezing cold today in the fields. -2 in fact.
Big Guy came with us and Boss Woman for a long walk. We saw
(and chased) loads of geese, 1 deer and 8 pheasants. We had
great fun. I'm glad Boss Woman put our hoodiies on because
we were shivering a bit at first until we got running around,
When we came near to the field with sheep, Big Guy put me
back on lead. I don't see why, just because I chased sheep
on Ben Whyvis doesn't mean to say I'll chase them now, does
it ?? Anyway, I came back when I was called and didn't catch
them. I mean, I only chased them before because they looked
stupid and I wanted to see how fast they could run. I
flushed out 6 pheasants from the bushes today. Polly was chasing
the geese and barking at them and she chased a deer for ages
as well. I chased the deer but I couldn't run as fast as Polly.
We had lamb for dinner. Polly could have caught some of her
own if Big Guy had let her off the lead !

Thursday
27th November |
Went on my
first ever Therapet assignment today, to the Old Folks Home.
I really enjoyed it and I gave everyone licky kisses even
though Boss Woman said I hadn't to go round
kissing everyone. Everyone made a real fuss of me and even
the local newspaper turned up to take my picture with one
of the nice old ladies. I wore a new lead and collar on
that Boss Woman bought specially ~ she said it wasn't possible
to wear my everyday one because it was dirty and smelt of
rabbit poo. I had to wear a bright green flash as well,
so everyone could recognise me straight away. One nice old
lady wanted to give me a cuddly mouse but Boss Woman said
I couldn't have it because I would eat it in 2 seconds !!
As if !!! I didn't go, I had to stay
at home. Boss Woman said when I am a bit older and don't
jump up so much then I can go as well. I think I would like
it as I like plenty of attention and giving everyone licky
sloppy kisses. Lungs for dinner. Gnipper the cat didn't
eat hers so me and Polly shared it.

Friday
21st November |
MY
BIRTHDAY TODAY !! Yippeeee I am now 2 years old. Boss Woman
got me a really nice leather
collar for my birthday present ~ nice isn't it ? and she
bought some really expensive Smart Price supermarket
steak for me and Amber's dinner. Big Guy says that she spoils
us! It's snowing today, huge ginormous flakes but me and Amber
liked it and ran all over the fields trying to catch the snowflakes.
I chased some geese in the sky but they were too high up for
me to jump up and get them. We lost Boss Woman in the fields
today ~ we couldn't see her anywhere because of the big snowflakes.
Luckily, she shouted to us so we could find her. Phew ! I
was getting a bit worried at one point. We like the snow but
it was a bit cold. I was glad when we got back and had our
steak dinner. I do not think it is funny
when Boss Woman throws snowballs at us She was laughing her
head off when the snowballs were hitting us and Polly was
trying to jump up to catch them but I didn't, because I didn't
think it was funny at all.

Saturday
8th November |
Me, Amber,
Boss Woman and Big Guy went a walk around Loch Muick today.
It rained most of the day and the path was waterlogged and
muddy. We still really enjoyed the walk though. We met loads
of people who made a fuss of me and Amber. One woman who
lived in Somerset had doggie biscuits in her pocket, even
though she had left her dog at home and she gave me and
Amber one. The path was so waterlogged at the end of Loch
Muick that Big Guy carried Boss Woman over it. Honestly,
what a sook ! I found a dead grass snake that I got in my
mouth so that I could show Amber but Boss Woman made me
leave it !
Boss Woman came back from Amsterdam yesterday. I really
missed her because I had to go into day kennels all day
and I missed my long walks. She said they sell funny wacky
backy over in Amsterdam but whatever that is, she didn't
bring me any back. Someone rang her and said they wanted
her to walk their dog and to to do some work in the garden,
picking up all the dog poo from their garden that they hadn't
been bothered to pick up themselves. Boss Woman was laughing
and said that the woman had a cheek and that she did dog
walking and not dogsbody. It was
a nice long walk round Loch Muick but I was a bit tired
and muddy when we got back to the car. Chicken for tea.

It's
such a lovely warm day today. We went down to Skatie Shore
for a run. The sea was smelling really nice and it was so
calm. Me and Amber chased some rabbits (as usual) but didn't
catch any because they were too fast. I had a good game of
chasing with a friendly Bearded Collie. Boss Woman said he
looked so thin, like he needed feeding up. On the way back
home, Boss Woman called at the Butchers to buy lots and lots
of hearts and lungs. I was thinking maybe she had bought it
all for a party she might be giving me in 2 weeks time, for
my birthday. She said if it was a nice day then we would go
for an extra long walk to celebrate my second birthday. We
walked right on by the rocks today. I like it on there, climbing
on the rocks and paddling in the sea and chasing rabbits.
The seagulls were making a lot of noise and I chased them
as well. Heart for lunch, which I like a lot.

Friday
31st October |
It
was hailing really hard today. Huge pieces of ice were hitting
us really hard and hurting our faces. I tried running away
from them and I kept looking back to see if they were following
me but I couldn't outrun them. Boss Woman was so wet that
her wellies filled up with water and they made a very strange
sqeaking noise when she walked. I was
really scared and was glad when we got back to the house.
We all got very wet and me and Polly were shivering we were
so cold. Boss Woman put a heat pad in my bed for me and it
was soooo cosy, it was lovely and warm.
|
Tuesday
28th October |
We
went on Balmedie beach today. Boss Woman was shivering she
was so cold. Well, if she had run about up and down the beach
playing chasing like me and Amber were doing then she would
have kept warm like we did. It was
snowing on the beach and the sea had big enormous waves.
|
Monday
27th October |
Here I am,
back again. Boss Woman floated off to France for a week
so me and Amber had to go into kennels down the road. It
wasn't too bad and it's a lot better than one I had to go
in before, when I was little. I'm really really glad to
be back home now though. We went on St. Cyrus beach today
for a long long run. Boss Woman said it was hot and sunny
in France, well, it was freezing cold here ! She gave us
a shower when we got back from the beach. She got some new
shampoo and she wanted to try it out on us. It smelt lovely
and now I smell lovely as well and my coat is all shiny
and soft. She rang somebody up about dog walking so it looks
like she might be doing some dog walking for people, I just
hope she takes me with her because I like other dogs and
I certainly like walking. I was soooo
glad she came back. I was beginning to get worried that
she had forgotten about us. It's lovely to be back home
and I think Gnipper the cat missed us as well. When we went
for our walk, stupid Polly went jumping about in the sea
but I didn't ~ it was far too cold !

Wednesday
15th October |
Boss Woman got a letter this morning from Canine Concern,
to say that I am now a qualified registered Therapet Dog.
Apparently I can now visit old people at the Care Homes where
they live and help cheer them up. I think I will like that
because I do like meeting people and having a 'clap' as they
call it up here. Boss Woman has been arranging it this morning
and there are 2 Care Homes that already want us to visit.
Cool. Boss Woman said she will have to keep a close eye on
me because most old people are very nice but some might be
grumpy and kick me so she will have to keep me close by her
as she said I am precious and she doesn't want me to get hurt.
Boss Woman said she would be grumpy as well if she had to
live in an Old Folks Home. She said
that when I get sensible and stop jumping up for attention
then she will get me assessed for a PET dog as well. I think
I will like that, as I do like attention and people talking
to me and I love giving people slobbery kisses.

Tuesday
7th October |
Big
Guy had to go down to near Keswick in the Lake District with
his work yesterday so me and Boss Woman went with him. It
is a very posh hotel at Lodore Falls where we are staying
and they even let ME stay here. While Big Guy was working
me and Boss woman went on a lovely walk to Keswick We met
an old guy who was walking his dog which was a Labrador x
Collie Cross and he walked with us back along a path on Cat
Bells. His dog was really friendly and we played chasing and
sniffing out rabbits. It has been raining hard nearly all
day but luckily I had my cagoule on that Boss Woman made me,
so I stayed fairly dry until I jumped in Derwentwater for
a swim. We went to a cafe where I was allowed to go in as
well and we shared an egg and bacon sandwich. We met loads
of people on the walk and some of them laughed at me with
my cagoule on, because they thought I looked 'cute' and everyone
made a fuss of me. Only thing was, Boss Woman had her bright
blue wellies on ~ she has no shame, it was so embarassing
walking with her. We saw a big fat guy with a Boxer. Now,
I don't like Boxers ~ ever since Boss Woman took me to doggy
training when I was very small and Bob the Boxer used to jump
all over me and frighten me, I have never liked them. Well,
this big fat guy and his Boxer were horrible. I growled at
the slobbery chops Boxer and when the big fat guy tried to
get hold of me I growled at him as well. He kept saying he
wasn't scared of me whle he was trying to get hold of me and
Boss Woman told him 3 times not to touch me but he was still
trying to, so I let him clearly know that if he did get hold
of me that I would BITE him. I mean, I had to protect Boss
Woman from him because neither of us trusted him ~ he looked
a nasty man and he would not leave me alone.

Saturday
4th October |
Boss Woman
has been really upset and crying today. Bonnie, my litter
sister has been put to death by the vet. Because she wasn't
a very well balanced dog because of her owners, she bit
Auntie Tracie of the Staffie Rescue who went to rescue and
re-home her (again) from the people that took her as a puppy
and she is now dead. It's not Auntie Tracie's fault. Boss
Woman doesn't think it's Bonnie's fault, she thinks it's
the owner's fault for not realising that Bonnie needing
firm guidance, firm handling and good training, then she
could even have stayed with them. Poor Bonnie, at least
she won't suffer any more. Me and
Polly are glad that we live here. We get well fed, well
looked and sometimes a smack bottom if we are naughty (
which I never am !!! ). Also we get to go on very very long
walks and runs in the fields.
|
Thursday
2nd October |
Boss
Woman can't take us for a run in the field until this afternoon
because she is busy baking biscuits for the market on Saturday.
I wish she would hurry up, I'm getting a bit bored waiting
for her.I don't feel very well right
now and I was sick last night. Boss Woman has put me a nice
warm heat pad on my bed to keep me warm.

Monday
29th September |
Boss
Woman had the shock of her life today. There was a Kestrel
in the garden crouching over a dead bird it had just killed
and she sent me and Amber out to sort it out. She thought
it was one of our baby ducks the Kestel had got but it turned
out to be a young wood pigeon with it's head ripped off that
had been in a nest in the Elderberry tree. Big Guy had to
go to the Doctors today because he got something in his eye
at the weekend and it was all sore and swollen and he could
hardly see out of it. Me and Polly chased
the bird away ~ I don't think it will come back in a hurry
! The mother wood pigeon was flying around looking all over
for it's baby.

Thursday
25th September |
Boss
Woman got another biscuit order in today, from Oban. I think
she is going to be very busy next week making biscuits because
she has the Farmers Market a week on Saturday as well. She
got some Smoked Salmon from Aberdeen today for making biscuits
and me and Polly got some of it. It is really lovely and we
liked it very much. We picked some more Blackberries as well,
today.
|
Tuesday
23rd September |
Went
in the Forest today and all the leaves are falling off the
trees. Loads of noisy geese have been flying overhead as well,
I think winter must be coming.
|
Monday
22nd September |
Went
to Skatie Shore today. I don't really like it much down there
anymore, it is getting too busy. Me and a Jack Russell were
having a sniffy sniffy and it bit my leg so I growled at it.
It's Boss Woman picked it up I think she was scared in case
I bit it back, well I should have because it was a nasty little
ankle biter, but I just barked at it to tell it off.

Sunday
21st September |
Me, Big Guy
and Boss Woman went to Northumberland for the weekend, they
went to pick up some day old Maran chickens. Boss Woman
likes these chickens because when they get older, they will
lay the darkest brown egg you have ever seen. They are really
noisy, they won't stop cheeping, even when Boss Woman feeds
them, they still make a noise all the time. We had a lovely
time staying at a Bed and Breaksfast in Carlton, North Yorkshire
and the owners even let ME stay there. I got to go to the
Pub with Boss Woman and Big Guy when they went for a bar
meal. Boss Woman saved me her Venison Sausage, it was very
tasty. There was some nice people that stayed in the Bed
& Breakfast as well that we saw at the pub later. One
of the men kept making a fuss of me and said he wanted to
take me home with him and kept hold of me all the time.
I think he liked me. Boss Woman said he would soon send
me back home again when he realised that I like eating dead
moles. We went a 12 mile walk over the Moors and somehow
we strayed off the path. There was a big fat guy there with
a very strange accent. Boss Woman said it was supposed to
be a posh English accent but it sounded gobbleygook to me,
like nothing I had ever heard before. Don't know why he
couldn't pronounce his words properly ~ maybe he was drunk
? He said Big Guy and Boss Woman had no right to be there
and that the DOG especially shouldn't have been there, even
on lead, like I was. Boss Woman said she was sorry for squashing
his grass and that in Scotland we had access rights over
all land. Well, he said that we weren't in Scotland, it
was England and that we had to leave straight away. On the
way back we had a long walk on Ross Links near Seahouses.
Big Guy got us some Fish and Chips and I had a whole fish
to myself. Boss Woman said that Big Guy always spoils me.
. It was lovely and warm and I really liked running on he
beach. I got to go to Linn of Dee
with Stella Labrador. She was very well behaved and didn't
keep annoying me like she normally does.
|
|
Friday
19th September
|
Went
a run in the fields today. It was sooo hot, both me and Amber
were panting a lot. Boss Woman gave us a drink of water which
we were glad of. Boss Woman has been speaking to someone who
sells doggy things at a market and she has a website where
she sells lovely dog hoodies that she makes. Well, she is
going to sell Boss Woman's dog biscuits, so that other dogs
can enjoy them as well as me and Amber.
I tried to dig a rabbit out of it's hole but I couldn't reach
it. I was digging for ages but Boss Woman called me away.
I don't know why, I could have caught our own dinner.
|
Tuesday
16th September |
It was chucking
it down this morning when we went down to Skatie Shore and
we all got wet and muddy. Boss Woman wore her fancy new
bright blue wellies with stripes inside, they are so bright
it is embarassing walking with her. Me and Amber still had
great fun chasing the rabbits though AND we nearly caught
one. I found a lime green golf ball in the Forest but it
was a bit hard on my teeth when I tried to bite it. Donna
from the newspaper is going to put me in the newspaper again
and also write about the dog biscuits that Boss Woman makes.
Donna has 2 dogs as well, that's probably why she likes
writing about dogs. Boss Woman and Big Guy are trying to
get some sponsors for their walk in Nepal, with the money
going to the Scottish Staffie Rescue like it did last time
we did a walk. Only this time, they said I can't go with
them. I think she's mean. I would behave myself
and not scare the Yaks, honest.I really
liked it down at the beach, me and Polly were running about
all over, it was great fun. Polly went in the sea as well,
but I didn't want to get salty water on me. We had fish
for dinner, with cheese and some tomato mixed in, it was
really lovely.
|
Friday
12th September |
Walked over
to Barras today, it was a really nice walk and we got to
run about in the fields chasing each other for ages. We
saw 2 old labradors being taken for a walk by their Boss
Woman. The oldest was 14 years old and could hardly walk,
she was wobbling about on her feet and walking really slowly.
I hope I don't get like that when I get old. I wanted to
play with the other one but he was too old to chase me even
though I was hiding in the long grass and jumping out on
him and running up and down and round and round barking
at him telling him to chase me, he couldn't. His Boss Woman
said she thought I was really funny and she was laughing
at me. Boss Woman told her I was just showing off. I was
not, so !!!! Boss Woman picked loads of Blackberries, she
said they were for making Blackbery & Apple Biscuits
for the next market. Well, I hope she saves us some, because
we like Blackberries so much that we even pick our own.
Me and Polly ate loads of Blackberries,
Boss Woman said if we ate any more we would get belly ache.
I liked playing chase with Polly and I kept hiding in the
wheat field but Polly always found me. I ate a dead mouse
off the road on the way back, luckily Boss Woman didn't
see me otherwise I would have got into trouble. Beef for
tea. Mmm.

Friday
5th September |
Went
up Bennachie today and walked about 6 miles. It was lovely
and warm. We saw 2 men with digging machines doing some path
repairs. One of the machines had a MASSIVE jaw on the front
with sharp teeth, so I growled at it and barked really loudly
~ after all, I had to protect us all from it attacking us.
It looked really fiercesome !! I had
to be carried over some rocks because my legs weren't long
enough to get over them. I really liked the walk and we went
through some Forest and in the water, it was lovely.
